working on a siren/water type creature

took suggestions from Jason, Seung, and Richard, and Nick and edited some of the pose, the highlights, the focus, and the perspective. I personally felt it needed a strong silhouette so I added some sketching to see if I could create a better arch with the coral along the back and arm, as well as some texture which would be scale or specs and barnacles!

This is definitely an improvement in my opinion. I think it would be cool to post the original so people can see the choices you made.

I love the way the hair flows on the ground.

Cool design! Is this a final pose, or are you just getting a feel for the character? The hair and face are great, but the lack of the other arm is throwing me off a bit.

I was looking for the older versions of her to kind of see the transformations, but they're all gone! I like the coral growing down her shoulder, and what look to be barnacles/scales or something all over her.

Oh great pose, and so many great lines to follow. I'd love to see maybe the
coral gradually recede on her body, like it's not such a drastic cutoff. Also I picture
a skeletal sailor who left his boat and now his corpse lies floating next to her as a
victim. Keep at it!

I really like the details you added to the latest edition, plus the light and shadow really pulls me around the image. It's oddly looking less creepy to me though (not to say un-creepy, though). Maybe I just like when there's a bright smile on someone's face!

This turned out really great! The hair looks awesome and I'm loving the texture - very fishy/aquatic.

yeah, the hair pooling at the feet is my favorite part. It's very cool.

Agreed, like I told you when I first saw this, love the hair pooling. This came together nicely.

One super minor thing that is standing out to me, the coral bit on her shoulder has more contrast and a greater value range than the area around it. It tends to draw the eye, and steal focus away from the face. I think if you knock it back just a little, like the coral on her back it would keep from drawing the eye too much.
